Is HitKeep Cloud a different product from the open-source version?
No. Cloud runs the same open-source binary, dashboard, API, and exports. Plans change limits and a few team features, never the analytics surface.
What happens when I hit the Free plan limits?
Existing analytics keep working. You cannot add sites or members beyond the limit, and data older than the retention window is dropped. Upgrading raises the limits immediately.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The Free plan needs an email address and a region choice. You add payment details only when you upgrade to Pro or Business from the team settings.
Where is my data stored?
In the region you pick on the signup form: EU (Frankfurt, Germany) or US (Virginia, United States). Traffic data and backups stay in that region.
Can I export my data or move to self-hosting later?
Yes. Takeout exports ship JSON, CSV, Parquet, NDJSON, and XLSX where supported, and the self-hosted build is the same product. Migration is a data move, not a platform switch.
How does billing work?
Pro and Business are billed monthly through Stripe. You can change or cancel the plan from the team settings; downgrades keep your data within the new limits.
Why are custom tracking domains a paid feature?
They require per-domain DNS verification and on-demand TLS certificates that we operate for you. The self-hosted build includes them without restriction.
